Common questions

Do I need a teaching qualification?
No formal qualification needed. You need to speak the dialect you want to teach as a native or close to it, and to be comfortable working one to one with adult learners. We check both during the application.
How much does Bernaly take?
Nothing, while we are in early access. Your learners pay you directly, so the full amount stays with you. Once payments move onto the platform we plan to take 10% of each lesson held, with no listing charge and no monthly subscription. We will tell you before that changes.
When and how do I get paid?
Your learner pays by card when booking. The amount is reserved, and the moment you accept it is charged and sent to your own account, minus our 10% commission. The money is held and transferred by our payment provider Stripe, not by Bernaly. Before your first booking you verify your identity with Stripe and give them your IBAN, which takes a few minutes.
How much time do I need to commit?
That is up to you. Some tutors give 2 lessons a week as a side income, others 20 or more as a main job. Set your availability honestly. Learners value reliability more than volume.
Can I teach more than one dialect?
Yes, if you really are fluent in more than one. In the application you declare each dialect with your level, and we check each one separately.
